I trained at Rochdale School of Art and then at St Martins in London where I studied Fine Art painting.
My main medium is oil paint, using both brush and palette knife. I have been fascinated with Venice and its palaces along the Grand canal, and some of the back canals. I mainly paint water scenes, both seascapes and river scenes. I like to portray the way in which light is reflected in the water. These reflections can be at times figurative and abstracted in terms of the way I apply the paint and the way it affects the mood and composition of my paintings. My work includes coastal scenes such as Cornwall, Jersey and Dorset with their harbours and maritime life. I have painted by the Thames, but particularly find the low tide more appealing with its mud banks, barges and boats resting on the mud with ropes winding back to the bank.
Although I am mainly a landscape painter. I also paint portraits at a workshop that I organise. The Portrait gallery is not commissioned subjects but work produced there.
My Paintings are priced from £200 up to £650.
